THANKS FOR VISITING!
What you are seeing here is somewhat of an online bookstore. It is “somewhat” because, at the moment, you cannot buy a book here. But I do have an inventory of over 6000 books that are listed with, and you can buy from, a well known online seller named “AbeBooks”.
First, a bit of history. I started this endeavor in 2013 for three reasons. One, it gives this retired old man something to do. Two, I like to read and, scouring for inventory, it gives me the opportunity to find good reads. Three, it saves some good readable books from the dump.
So, enough about me; what about you? I assume that, beyond plain old curiosity, you may be looking for a certain book or two. In the time that I have been selling books I have found that there are two distinct types of persons searching for books. I call the two the “Bloodhound” and the “Browser”.
The Bloodhound knows exactly what they are looking for and goes looking directly for that book by author, title, ISB number or a keyword or two. At this point I would suggest to any Bloodhounds here they should go directly to the paragraph below headed BLOODHOUND.
For the Browser: A person that enjoys perusing stacks of books. Going up one aisle and down another. Holding the book in their hand. Reading the jacket descriptions and enticements. I am afraid this website itself cannot help you too much.
But, for Browsers near Bristol, Vermont (where I reside) I would suggest visiting RECYCLED BOOKS OF VERMONT on Main Street in Bristol or MONROE STREET BOOKS on Route 7, north of Middlebury, VT.
For Browsers outside this area, there are many small scale and large scale bookstores still out there. Happy Hunting.
BLOODHOUND
This is a very small scale operation. Consequently, for lack of $ and time, I have found it more feasible to list my inventory through an established online broker (Abebooks) rather then setting up this website to show my complete inventory and enable book purchases here.
Knowing exactly what you want, you should go directly to Abebooks.com and enter your information in their search section. That will show you all the copies of that book that they have listed. Ours may be among them and, if so, you will find that we are very competitive on price.
IN THE MEANTIME !
If you are neither Browser or Bloodhound but just curious. Or you would like to see my inventory, or you want to shop locally, or you would like to help enlarge this small-scale operation, or you are a relative or a friend of mine. Here is what to do:
Go to www.abebooks.com.
In the red banner, click on "Booksellers".
Under "Search by Name/Location", type in "aboxabooks".
My store name "aboxabooks" will show up at the bottom of the page.
Click on that link.
Then, at my site, click on "List this seller's books". That will show you all books we currently have listed and you may order from that site.
ABOXABOOKS and ABEBOOKS
NOTE: The names Aboxabooks and Abebooks are similar but both are distinctly separate companies. My site (Aboxabooks) is a small operation here in Bristol, Vermont. Abebooks is a global book broker that handles listings from thousands of booksellers like me. Since I currently cannot sell books directly from my website, (except as noted below) I list my books through Abebooks. The benefit of listing books with Abebooks is that they are able to present the books to millions of readers worldwide. The downside is that I must pay them a fee for each book sold. That, plus packaging and shipping costs, means that listing a book with Abe for less than $5.00 is not economically feasible. So you will find that, for the most part, my listings with Abe are non-fiction such as textbooks, professional books, medical books, etc and very little “light” reading.
However, in my constant acquisition of more and more books I wind up with many modern fiction and non-fiction books (light reading) that will not list above the $5.00 floor but are too good to throw away. I am currently working on a way to get those possibilties to you.
Thanks for visiting and come back soon.
